Does anyone use the Cakeboss pricing software for a product line that includes cookies, muffins, breads, etc? If so, is it user friendly? Are ingredients in weight or volume, (ie does the software accept flour by weight or volume/cup measurement?

My students learn the low-tech way of pricing ingredients and then calculate recipe costs. This is the most challenging part of the class but I hesitate to recommend costly software. Is it worth it to you?

Many thanks,
Mimi

I use it for cakes, but you can easily do it for any other baked items. It is extremely handy in that it does break down cost by weights/volumes. I was using an Excel spreadsheet my dad had created for me and it just wasn't working very user friendly. Cakeboss is great because once you enter your recipe into it broken down by ingredients and measurements, you just simply indicate how much of that recipe that you used to fulfull your order or request. Very user friendly and definitely worth the price. I am only a hobby baker and I would recommend it to anyone. It's helped track my expenses.

Jumping off original question, does CakeBoss allow you to include non-food ingredients in your pricing, such as cake boxes, boards, cookie bags, cing gel colors, etc.? If so, do you do it per recipe?

Yep. All of the supplies are put into a master list and then for each order you just pick what you need to use...cake recipe, icing, boards, foil, etc.

I LOVE Cakeboss!! It saves me so much time and helped open my eyes to the cost of each cake. Now I have no problem telling a customer no when they want a big sculpted cake for $50 icon_smile.gif Cakeboss, my kitchen aid and my husband are the 3 most important things in my business icon_smile.gif

I have a question? I have my cake contract attached to my invoices right now, will cake boss do this? How do you send your invoice and contract via email?

I just got Cake Boss and am still learning my way around it but I've not seen anything contract related in it. It's not setup as far as I can tell to emailed directly from the application, however, you can print your invoice to a pdf and then attach that, along with your contract to an email.
