THANK THE DEAR LORD!!!!!!!!!!! I've heard from Melissa!!!!!! Her & her family evacuated to Jena, La. (not too far from me)!!!!!! They are fine!!!!!! Though they did lose everything they had icon_sad.gif Their house is submerged in water. Thank God there are ok!!! Melissa & the kids are fixing to go back to Canada (where she is from) to stay w/ her friend there. Her hubby will be working out of another city for a few months.

Please continue to pray for her & the family. I know everyone has been worried about her. I was so excited to get her PM!!!!!!!!! God is wonderful!!!!!!!!

That's SOOOOOOO awesome!!!!! I was just saying a prayer for her & BigEasyCakes not too long ago....prayer DEFINITELY works!! thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif

Funny where she ended up, Jena, LA....my dad was born & raised there. I may actually be coming there sometime early next year to do some geneaology research. Do they really pronounce everything ending in an "a" with an "r" added on to it?? Such as - Bananer (banana) or Sofer (sofa) - my dad says that that's how everybody talks there...just wonder if he's exaggerating a little, like he loves to do!!?? lol icon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks soooooooo much for letting us know you heard from her. I'll be praying her & her husband stay strong through everything they have to deal with....losing everyting, relocating, etc. I just hate that..... icon_sad.gif Please tell her that she is definitely being thought about and prayed for hard!!!!! thumbs_up.gif

Now, if we could only hear from BigEasyCakes....... icon_sad.gif

You're welcome Jenn!

Not everything we say has an "r" at the end of it BUT I have to admit a lot of words do!!! I say winder in place of window. Wheelbarra in place of wheelbarrel. Tar in place of tire. Potater & tomater instead of potato & tomato. There's a lot of stuff I say that I don't even realize! My in-law's from Albany, NY point that out to me everytime they come to visit. New Orleans is pronounced New Awwleeins & New Aw'lins. Both said pretty fast. LOL!

I'll keep ya'll posted!!

I'll do my part to keep it current...waiting to bid on a steam cleaner on ebay...so I'll be up for at least another hour or so...know I'm in your time zone, but at least I can bump it up every now & then.

I have a suggestion: For those of you in Canada: Once we find out where exactly Melissa Black is, maybe you guys that are near her could get together & either mail or deliver some things to her. I'm sure she could use just about everything!!! I would be willing to contribute as well....money or items. I'd love to know how many kids she has and their ages, sizes. Mine have more clothes, etc. than they could possibly need! I'm sure she has family & friends, being that's where she's from and all. But we all are pretty close here at CC, and at a time like this I think it would be a real boost for her. I would like to do the same for Dodibug, BJFranco, BigEasyCakes (if we ever hear from her) and anyone else down here in NOLA or Mississippi or Alabama. Maybe I should just hush and see if I can get this organized.

It may just be a nice idea, and not very doable....but I know that after we were through the worst of it after Katrina here, and I was able to get back online & see all of the wonderful thoughts & prayers offered up for me and my family from all of you here at CC....well - let's just say I cried for almost 2 hrs. It was one of the most touching things I've ever experienced. To never ever have seen my face, or the faces of my DH or children, you all were so concerned...and I could just feel the sincerety and compassion with every post I read! If I ever meet any of you....watch out...'cause I'm gonna KISS YOUR FACE!!!!! icon_eek.gificon_razz.gificon_wink.gif lol icon_lol.gif

I know it's one thing to write a post and say all of the things in our hearts, but it's a totally other/different thing when we actually are able to do something...and when we're able and one of "ours" is within reach...why not??!

TC: If/when you get an address for Melissa Black (or anyone else) please let us know. I'm gonna try and come up with an idea for a way to get some basic essentials together, as well as some little extras to give 'em a smile, and see if we can't get some "care pkgs" together.

Thank Goodness she's safe. It may be nice if a few of us can start her off with some odds and ends of cake decorating equipment. I know they're a luxury when she probably needs essentials but if it were me in that situation any money I had would go to buying essentials for my kids. Luxurys like cake equipment but be at the bottom of the list and I would be so touched if someone bought me a luxury that was something I would love but wouldn't dream of buying. I'll certainly be willing to send a few bits and pieces from England

I am so thrilled to hear that Melissa and family are safe! And yet, so heartbroken to know that they lost so much. icon_sad.gif

I agree with MissBaritone. She will, no doubt, get the necessities from her family and friends, FEMA/Red Cross, etc. Some 'extras' would be such a sweet treat!

Thank God! I'm so glad they are ok and that they somewhere to go while they try to get their lives back in order.

Care packages are a great idea! If we could get addresses and sizes that would be something we could all do to help out. I just sent a pile of clothes out and have more to go through - i'd love to be able to send them to someone I actually "know".

I have been cleaning out the kids' dressers and closets so I have colthes that I can send. I have four children icon_eek.gif , 2 boys and 2 girls. They are 7, 5, 3, and 2. The clothes are ones they have outgrown in size and season. I can't bear to take them to the Goodwill here and I don't have any extra money to donate just yet to the victoms. I would like to send these clothes to some one who has lost everything! If you are hosting a family or can have these goods mailed to you and disperse them where needed to our CC members, PLEASE let me know. I will use the money from this weeks cake order to mail it! PM me or email me at [email protected] Thanks so much. We just want to do what we can. The kids have even said they would give away some of their toys to the kids who don't have any! They are so good! thumbs_up.gif

It is good to know prayers are answered. TC please let her know how many people on CC were praying for her and her families safety. I know how it always reaffirms my faith in God and man, to know others are thinking of me. I agree with Mrs Baratone, A care package of tips/bags/ect would be awsome. Even a package of cookies. Or ANYTHING I can do, I would love to just let me know.

usaribbon.gif JennT, that's a great idea! thumbs_up.gif First and foremost, keep the prayers going, all need them right now. If you get addresses let those who would like to donate items know.
It's wonderful to know the CC "family" cares so much for others!

You guys are so right about people getting their essentials from family, etc. And a care pkg full of cake stuff sure would brighten a decorators day if they no longer have their stuff. I was thinking, too, it would hopefully enable them to start making cakes and making $$ which everyone so desperately needs right now...especially with the banks there all being down.

I'm going to see what addresses I can come up with for our friends down here along the Gulf that lost everything. Once I do, I'll post a notice that I have them and then if anyone wants to send them pkgs they can pm me & I'll forward the address. Sound like a good way of getting this done?? lol icon_rolleyes.gif

any other suggestions for accomplishing this are welcome! icon_smile.gif
