Question ladies & gents, May I use raw apple cider vinegar instead of distilled vinegar in this recipe? I think it's better. can anyone let me know? I just googled it and it seems to be the same. Has anyone used it? thank-you

I agree, Cakeman Raven recipe but I cut the oil even more, I only use 1 cup oil (though the recipe says 1 1/2 cup) and I increase the cocoa powder and vanilla

pattycakesnj, I'll have to try that. The 1 1/4 is still extremely moist. I use vanilla bean paste and I'm pretty heavy handed in all of my recipes.

graciesj, I have never tried it, but DC Cupcakes uses apple cider vinegar. They say it is more mellow and sweeter.

By the way, google Cakeman Raven for an interesting read. He has been shut dwn by the health dept several times. One time for no running water because he didn't pay the bill. Employees were washing their hands in a bucket. I think a payroll check bounced and an employee turned him in.

No! It's wonderful. But after already having a retail business, being on Throwdown and having his fantastic recipe all over the internet, he still could not parlay that into a viable business. Wouldn't we all like that kind of jumpstart?
