A friend of mine has asked me to make these cupcakes for her and
I'm just not sure how to get that perfect dome?!? Any suggestions?

Is that molded chocolate? If so the dome might be made using the Wilton mini ball pan. Or do you think that would be too big at 3.5 x 3.5?

Life begins at 325° F, and, yes, that IS powdered sugar in my hair.

I would ask the person who made them (crafty creations). They are very cute!

It isn't chocolate, just a some buttercream on top of the cupcake, then a circle of fondant laid over and tucked into the edges of the case. How much buttercream and the size of the circle are trial and error and will determine how big your dome is! (I am Crafty Confections! icon_biggrin.gif )

Kelly75: your work is awesome. I've been a flickr for a while and admire your work.

do you smooth out the buttercream with something before putting the fondant on top? what size cutter did you use, if you dont mind. I'd like to try it out and use that as a starting point. TIA

You can use a small ice-cream scoop to put a dome of buttercream on if it helps you get them all a uniform size, I just put a blob on with a pallet knife and smooth it out. I have a set of different sized circle cutters and which one I use depends on how big a dome I'm making and also the size of the cupcake case. I sometimes have to try a couple of different sizes, it varies each time.

You can make the top with the mini sports ball pan and attach it with BC.
