Need Help For A Cake For A Baker
Decorating By SugarSugarDesserts Updated 31 Jan 2011 , 6:44pm by SugarSugarDesserts
I am making my own birthday cake for my party and while it should be the easiest thing in the world to come up with an idea for myself it hasn't been.... I am stuck.
Came up with a cake flavor at least
I want to do a strawberry cake with a sugar cookie between the layers and I plan to put a little almond in the cookie.
I like this idea but I am open to other suggections - just not chocolate becuase I am not into chocolate cake.
Icing
I can not decide whether or not to try the SMBC or not. I have been making cakes for over a year and never have made SMBC. I have always used wilton's ABC with real butter (not all shortening).
What do you think ABC or SMBC with this cake flavor...
Theme
I want a baking theme and I can do figures, fondant, gumpaste etc but have not thought of anything that really blows my mind. HELP PLEASE!
I would try Swiss M BC. I really get a lot of compliments on it. Also, since you are a baker what about a stove, mixer and all the cute things you could create to go with the theme? Good_luck and enjoy your birthday!
I made a chef hat cake once...and totally loved it!
I would attach a picture...but I am completely incapable. Its in my pics though.
SMBC all the way!
As for designs, I struggle with this all the time so I'm no help there.
Well, I'm not much help. I made a nice strawberry/vanilla mudcake for my bday 2009 and it was the most boring cake I have ever made, LOL! It was a 10 inch square from memory - with "Happy Birthday to Me" written on it.
Last year I did what I love the most - Black Forest Gateau. Yummy! But again, not a sculpted cake (too much like hard work!)
Thought I would post the finished cake.....
It is in my pictures at http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1927538
