To get the exact sizing you know you could bake the cake in the leftover tin. Otherwise just go for amount of servings converted to what size rounds. Cover in fondant and paint, or use edible images.
Thanks you very much for the picture, i just cant get mine to upload.
Thanks for the suggestions...painting???? hmmmm, havent really tried that but this can be a first eh..
edible image..i have not got an edible printer, how do i get an edible print for something like this? advice please, i am in the UK.
thanks for the advice on baking it in the chocolate tin.
Regards
Contact your local baking shops, sure most of them do edible images....
if you could email them the picture, then they will print it for you..
just as the other suggested either hand paint or print out at any local bakery chances are they are willing to sell u a print out of wat ever u want
About the edible prints, i have used them in the past and they normally come in A4, A5 and 7.5" round sized.
How do i go about adapting them to fit around lets say an 8" round. I mean the sides of the 8" round with out having disjointed pieces.
Thanks
Try ASDA, they're pretty helpful, and do edible images. I think the biggest you can get for edible images is A4, as that's the biggest size you can get into the printer.
If you want a continuous strip to go around the side of an 8", you would need to probably do some experimenting on computer, and print out the side image along the length of an A4 sheet.
I have a leftover Roses tin, I was just about to put it in the attic with the Christmas baubles in it. I could speak to hubby when he gets in, and see if we can scan some images for you from the tin, could possibly email them to you.
It's funny, I had just thought of doing that as a cake the other day, just as I was sorting out the christmas stuff to pack away. I did wonder if it would be possible to bake right in the roses tin. It's a neat idea.
I also have a couple of quality street tins too. I love the hex shape of them!
Also you could try ebay, there's a good few sellers who do edible images, you could always email to ask what would be possible.
It would be great to see if it can be done.

Many thanks MamaD77,
That is very nice of you. I have just contacted a company that says that they can do a big circle that can go on top of the cake and cover the sides as well in one go. I think that if its possible then that will be a very neat way to go about it as i dont trust my painting skills.
Waiting for them to get back to me. Will try Asda as well, didnt know they did edible prints.
Thanks
Sounds good, can you give me a nod when you get the cake done? I'd love to see the results!
I may try my own soon, I think it's a fab idea!
Wishing you luck with it,
MamaD

Sorry for the post above,
I was mistaken, they can only do large circles up to 25cm. The canvas work that they advertise on their website is only for cakes they sell. They dont sell the canvas prints as they have pointed out to me. So i am down to covering only the top with the edible print and figuring what to do with the sides of the cake.
Maybe, a light blue fondant with small red roses as a bottom border. what to do with the sides though....think ...think ...think
