So after weeks and weeks of trying to come up with a business name I think I finally came up with it. I initially wanted to use "Dream Cakes" but TONS and TONS of people already have that name. So, I decided to go with "Luscious Cakes" or "Luscious cake designs". I think its short and sweet and I have some ideas for my business logo and design. I did a google search and I came up with something almost similar to it but not quite, and this was in Canada. I live in California but did not find another bakery with that name.

What do you guys think of "Luscious Cakes" or "Luscious cake designs"?

Since a bunch of other people looked and didn't comment, I guess I'll comment...I think Luscious Cakes is better than Luscious Cake Designs. But, honestly, it doesn't really speak to me, know what I mean? Hopefully someone else will comment. It may speak to your customers, though. That is what is important.

Thanks for ur input. I'm just having such a hard time picking a name that I'm just getting frustrated!! I want to get my business started and that's what's holding me up. Maybe I'll just stick to "dream cakes" icon_confused.gif

Your name doesn't have to be "something" cakes. Try getting out of that particular box. do some brainstorming. Write down anything (and I mean anything) that has to do with cake, no matter how stupid you think it might sound. Ask your kids if you have any. You'd be surprised. My son came up with the name for my biz. It's catchy, different, and everybody remembers it.
"cake dreams" speaks more to me than "dream cakes". Turn some of those combinations around and see what comes up. Instead of Luscious cakes, maybe Cake-licous or Cakes Delish

Lady fish...thanks for the suggestions!! I have been playing with this for over a month now!! My cousin had suggested delish designs or something with the word "delish".

I'm really liking Cakes Delish.....hmmmmmm....and Cake-licious icon_smile.gif

Let me know if you come up with anything else...I have trouble thinking outside the box!! Hubbub wants something short...2 words only...it's harder than I thought!!

For advertising purposes, I'd strongly suggest putting the name of your city in your biz name. There's a very good reason my name is Louisville Wedding Cake. And Louisville Cupcake. And Louisville Candy Buffet. And Louisville Cookie. Sexy name? Not particularly. Easy for customers to remember? yes. Easy to find on the interwebs? You betcha!

Do you think a one word name such as "delish", people will think of "cakes"?

That makes a lot of sense...but I'm not too thrilled about "Stockton cakes". But I know people would remember this easy

Stockton Cakes Delish?

You can answer the phone "Cakes Delish!" but you can still have the Stockton in there for searches. I'm feelin' this much better than Luscious Cake Designs.

Please do not name your business Cake-licous. I can't help but think of destiny's child or Prez hilton, they are so yestarday(your business is not). Please do not go with a term or catch phrase that will sound out dated in a few years.

To me it evokes desserts in general, which might be advantageous if you decide to branch out beyond just cakes.

Your business name typically won't be appearing in a vacuum anyway, your branding should include a tagline or short statement of your core competencies. It can also include the geographic area you serve. For example: "Delish - The Finest Custom Cakes in Stockton".

Stockton's Sweets (if you do anything in addition to cake)

Slices of Stockton: Custom Cakes... etc.

Kiddie- you never know... maybe luscious cakes would expand her clientele. icon_smile.gif

My business name came from an experience, maybe something profound will happen to help you.

I had been playing around with names for so long, but when I entered a competition in October and happened to win the door prize of a mixer, it just hit me. The new mixer was pistachio and I already had a cranberry colored one. I went with creations because I don't want to pigeon hole myself if I do more than cakes one day.

That's it, lol! It does sound naughty! Makes me think of voluptuous, scantily clad woman on satin sheets,icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gif I couldn't quite place my finger on why I didn't like it, but you nailed it, lol.

A Slice of Heaven (or Heavenly Slices)
Slice and Simple
Slice Divine
Normita's Slices (or whatever your name is)
A Slice More (implying your cakes are just a bit more than the average... and using the power of suggestion to "help" people know they want more)
Sweet Slices

I could go on and on.... (they get cheesier as I do)

The only immediate problem I see is that if you use the word "slice," people might assume you sell by the slice. I imagine you'll have that question anyway, though, so it might not matter.

What do you want your name to say about your business? Are you focusing on novelty cakes, wedding cakes, both?

Fondant Frenzy. Off the top of my brain, that's what I have to contribute. icon_smile.gif

Me too, actually, but a good graphic could help with that.

A couple more:
Sliced!
Iced and Sliced
Sugar and Slice

OP: You'll figure it out. Good luck.
