Hello all.. I've recieved a request for an xbox cake.. they sent me a picture of the xbox cake through "Pinkcakebox.com" .. that's the one they want. And they want it as close to life size as possible.. But I have no clue how big an xbox is!! How many servings would this be? And how much would you charge for this cake??? Doesn't look like too much carving, but a lot of fondant/gumpaste details....

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

An Xbox360 is basically 10"x12"x3" but it doesn't have straight edges, and there are some bits that come out from the box. You would probably be best to use a 14" square and carve it from that.

If you know someone with one, you could trace around it and make a template for the shape, but the front rounded as well as concave a bit.

And if you do know someone, then I would try and borrow controller to use as a model. You may need a separat 4" or 6" for the controller, but just a single layer unless you do it in RKT.

And because it's a 14" you would be using, charge for the number of pieces that that size makes. My guess is possible 60-65 pieces. So I would charge at minimum $325-350 but with the extra fondant work and the carving, I'd bump that to $400-450. Others may say otherwise.

HIIII!! First I would find a side, top, back, any view pictures you can find if you don't have the real thing to reference. It looks like a really big cake, of course it could be the angle they took the picture!! Like the other poster put, use a sheet cake to get close to the size that it actually is and then you can layer and carve from there!! From some quick research it looks as thought a 2 10X12 sheet cakes is around 40-50 servings. However, you might want to double check!!! I would definitely get over a $100, b/c it is carved, and all the details!! But you know your skill set and should price accordingly!!!

I used a 13x9 pan for the Xbox that I made. Also, a 6 in round that I carved the controller from. My cake is not as good as the one in the pic and it was my first full covered fondant cake but I think I did ok.

I made one using photos of XBoxes (front, side, top views) and controller pix and a 10x15" pan, which I thought would be too big but turned out perfect once I carved it down. Using RKT for the controller made it soooo easy to make. I made the same model XBox as Pink Cake box, but theirs is much prettier. Naturally!

As previously posted, I'd calculate the cost based on # servings you believe the cake will provide (based on its final size). I'd say mine served about 30 since I only torted it once. (The PCB cakes looks way taller). If I'd charged for it I'd guess it should have been around $150.
