Minimum order size and price for decorated cookies

Occasionally I get a request for decorated cookies. But since I don't do them on a regular basis I'm a little lost on pricing and minimum order size. I figure the minimum should be at least 3 dozen. What is a good price scale for a 3 -4 inch cookie decorated in royal icing?
If you can't find time it do it right..how will you find time to do it over?

$1.00 per inch so if the cookie is 3 inches ...$3.00 each..The more intricate designs like fondant covered..more money.Then I charge $50 cents for packaging and ribbon..Cookies are VERY time consuming so I won't take orders for anything less than 1 dozen.

I watched this topic to see what answers came up.

Kiddiekakes -

Are you still charging only $1 per inch? That was the standard price when I first joined CC. I thought that it would be more by now, because of the hefty ingredient price rises since then.

Opinions, anyone?

I actually changed my prices about 2 years ago to $5.00 each..period..I hate cookies so if I am going to do them I mind as well get paid well..The norm though from what I have read on here is $1.00 and inch...I say higher...

We haven't talked extensively about cookie prices here for so long, that I wasn't aware members were still charging the same as before.

Anytime Theresa..actually ever since I changed my price I have had no orders...Go Figure...Ha!ha! But I don't really care cause like I said..I hate doing them so....

I charge starting at $2 a cookie with a 1 dozen minimum.

Im in spruce grove alberta!!!!!

I usually charge more, $2 is icing smeared on a cookie lol, above that is the nice stuff!


My wiggles cookie bouquet (in my album) Was $35 for 5 cookies. so $7 a cookie (and that was a discount for a friend!)

Sweetheart....Do you sell alot of cookies?? When I first starting offereing them about 4 years ago I was charging $1.50 a cookie..Every...and I mean every customer was ordering cookies for the loot bags along with their cake order but I found myself doing 10 times more cookies than cakes for less money and I was getting burnt out so I said something has to go....and since I really didn't like the time it took to do cookies...I jumped the price but now no one will pay $5.00 a cookie...which I somewhat understand but if they knew how long it takes to do a cookie from start to finish....so now I just mostly do cakes and also raised my prices last spring so I am doing less for more...

I dont sell alot. But I dont sell cakes. My business is Candy.

People complain about my price and use the "walmart" line. And I just say " If you want walmart cookies all the power to you, but if you want something custom, Im here"

I like cookies more then cakes. But thats just me icon_smile.gif

Ha !Ha!..Well glad you and not me...I love the look just impatient doing them...There is a reakly great cookie maker on Flickr named Sugarbelle..Fantastic cookies!!!Beautiful....

I get the same thing with cake though....they want a fancy custom cake and don't want to pay the price!!

Decorated cookies are expensive. I really don't care for doing them, so I charge at least $5 per cookie. Cookies by Design charges $95.99 for a 12 cookie basket. That averages $8 per cookie, of course hat includes the basket and packaging though.

Well I have to have a separate kitchen away from my home one which I do.Hubby built me a cake room.Double sinks Hot water etc...Refrigerater that is at the right temp for food storage..It may have changed as I have had my room almost 10 years now so the health regs may be strictor by now I don't know..I don't have a facebook page for my business as it costs money and I didn't want to spend it advertising on facebook...Mostly word of mouth and former/present clients...

Not that I know of..I went on the link that said make your business page and filled out all the stuff and at the end it shows a price and how do I want to pay so I deleted it..I tried this a few times and same thing...so now I just go to my freewebs site and send a blast email to facebook through them and my website link shows up...Hvae never had any orders through there anyways so...
