How do you put in the sticks into the cookies pre-baking without it falling out.
I usually put it on the back of the cookie then cover the stick with a piece of dough, but after baking it falls off usually and I don't like the bulge that it creates

There are a couple of threads on here from previously if you do a search, sorry, I dont have time to look it up for you.
basically, you have very cold, firm dough and insert the stick and twist as you do it. that way it gets a grip and is less likely to fall out. I bake mine an extra bit so the cookies are firm through means less breakage.

I make extremly thick cookies. Then I lay the cookie on baking sheet with the front face down and push the stick in a little bit. Then I roll a piece of dough and cut out a small rectangle with an exacto knife and then push it onto the back of the cookie. Carefully turn it over and bake the cookie. I have never had any trouble with the stick falling out. And it's not unsightly on the back or anything. =o) Hope this helps.
If you use wood skewers, ones you can buy at Wal Mart really cheap, you can put them in the cookie shortly after you take them out of the oven. Trust me they will stay in. I have tried pulling them out before and it is not easy. This way you can continue to get a lot of cookies on the cookie sheet and not have to worry about working around skewers.
I made cookies on the stick befor and what I did was rolling them 3/8" or 1/2" then I sharpenned the cookie/lollipop sticks a little with a pencil sharpener (a clean one ofcourse). Nothing to pointy to hurt anybody specially if the recipient of my cookies were kids.
If they have a little pointy tip it is much easier to insert them in the cut out cookie dough.
As I am inserting the pointy stick in the cookie I kind of feel and/or control it with my other hand so it is straight and does not stick out from the bottom of the cookie.
It always works for me.
I am glad to hear you can sharpen the lolipop/cookie sticks. I have always been concerned about the sharp point on the wood skewers.
I put a piece of dough on the back of my cookies and then smooth it out with water. The bulge is hardly noticeable....sometimes there is no bulge at all.

I don't like to put the sticks in the cookies so if there HAS to be sticks I hot glue them to the back of the cellophane cookie bag.
I make the cookies a little thicker than usual - and insert the stick right when they come out of the over (you can fit so many more on a cookie sheet and cut way down on baking time) I let them cool - and when ready to decorate - I always pull the stick out and squirt some royal icing in the hole and reinsert the stick - I let them dry with the rest of the cookie and you never have to worry about them coming out or "rotating" once they are in your cookie bouquet!

I had a cookie stick fall out once. And that's what I did too. I just put some RI on the stick and put it back in the cookie. It took it a couple of hours to dry - but it worked out perfectly in the long run!
