these are a couple of suppliers I had in my file, just to get you started.
I owned 18" ones. I can always put a small cake on a large plateau but it's hard to put a large cake on a small plateau!! 
Most of my cakes had a 14" base; when put on a 16" cardboard, then placed on an 18" plateau, it balanced.
When I had a 12" base cake, the space gap would be filled with rose petals or other decor.

Great service.....I received the stand in about 4 days from date of purchase. I looking it so much I'm going to buy the smaller one for $52. Or you can always check eBay

hi. a realy nice owner of a bakery told me that if you can't find a nice stand you can create your own with a cake tin turned upside down and a bit of imagination. I took his advice and used a 16''board on a 14'' tin (because that is the largest tin size I had) and covered it with fabric.
I'm wondering how to clean them. I have two 18 inch ones in silver plate that both need polishing. Any suggestions??
I have bought some at sav-on crafts, e-bay, and pottery barn. I have made my own stands too. I have silver square ones at 14 and 20 inches. I have silver round ones at 12, 14 and 19 inches.
I also have several wooden, ceramic, and glass pedestal stands. If you come to the ICES convention in Charlotte this August, I am slated to do a demo on making your own cake stands! 
I had a couple of the silver stands and my brides always wanted something different, something more contemporary. My brother made made me several and almost every bride I have now rents one. He has started selling them through Etsy, take a look at some of his designs.

Do you add the cost into the cake and the buyer keeps it? or do they return the stand after the wedding? How does it work?
I add an additional rental fee plus hefty deposit. I keep the rental fee and IF they return the stand IN GOOD SHAPE they get the deposit back.
I charge a $35 rental fee. It is due back the Wednesday following the wedding. In our Terms and Conditions, it says: "If the stand is not back the Wednesday following the wedding, you are responsible for its replacement. If the stand is lost, you are responsible for its replacement."
I have had to charge a couple of brides for replacement. I am not a rental company and don't have a staff of 1000 available to track them down and pick them up after a wedding. We offer the stands as a convenience. I don't usually have any problems with the rentals.
hayden, I had the same terms. Had one stand that took about 10 days to get back to me. Dad (from out of state) emailed that he was looking for his deposit back. I emailed that the stand was nto returned. He said that he gve it to the best man to return the day of the wedding. Well, best man carried it around in his trunk for over a week. dad figured that since he gave it to the best man, that was the same as it being returned on time. I suggested he needed to collect the deposit from the best man since the best man was the one who returned it late. But I DIDN'T write a check to him.
Terms are terms. late is late.
I have like the stands over at Sarah's Stands. I own a 12'' hot pink and have stacked it on top of the 16'' white, very cute look.
