Haha, have a friend that wants to make candy clay. The recipes call for 14 ounce bags, only trouble is, she bought them in bulk at bakery and doesn't have a scale. Anyone have some handy ( I am out) that can measure them in measuring cups or knows the count?

Squirelly you are so funny. I couldnt stand its so ran downstairs and grabbed a bag. The wilton candy discs a 14 oz bag., there are 140 to a bag or roughly 2 cups. (Can't believe I counted them, now I know) icon_rolleyes.gif

Hope this helps. Heather

Heehee, thanks Heather, I would have counted them too, haha! That is the problem when weight measurements are given and folks don't ahve a scale handy! I passed this on to my pal and I am sure she will be very grateful! Did this count the ones you ate when counting, haha!

How long are they good for after you make them into a candy shape? And do you have to totally seal them air tight? Or will the be ok on the cake board I have them all layed out on wrapped in 3 layers of saran wrap? TIA.

Heehee, well I must admit I have only eaten Merckens and Neilson chocolate ones, so I don't know how they taste!
Well, Wilton recommends, I believe, about 3 weeks ahead. I find you can go longer. Yes, they should do just fine wrapped like that.

Thanks. I just finished doing them all last week, but the cake I'm making isn't till the end of this month, so i was beginning to wonder. My kids love those candy's, but they are a tad over sweet for me icon_smile.gif

Haha, I guess I will have to break down and buy a bag of the Wiltons!
A Canadian chocolate company, Neilson's, makes the milk chocolate ones. Now those are too darn dangerous and should come with a warning, "Could cause major inflation to waistline".
I have a bad habit of not taking the time to eat when I am in decorating mode. So maybe this is why these things taste so darn good, when you are weak with hunger, haha!

I have four children, so I don't get to work on cakes and such till after 8pm (sometimes later depending on how determined my soon to be 3 y/o is to stay awake) so I don't have as much of that problem! LOL. Good thing too b/c I just went down 8 sizes in the last 18 months and have 1 more size to go before I hit my goal. Two kids back to back does terrible things to your waistline too.

Hhmn, so does menopause, haha! Let me tell you, that is actually worse, haha. Mainly because your whole system goes slow and your metabolism changes. Geesh, there is always something, haha!

I make tons of chocolate novelties. The shelf like is amazing. Some of my customers tell me they have it a year. I use Merckens.

Just had my 20th reunion from high school. You would have thought that alone would have been motivation enough! Guess not. Maybe the 25th!! LOL

Well, my "start" on my wt loss program is one I don't recommend. I developed two cases of strep back to back. Let me tell you, that was NOT fun. Lost 20 lbs the first month. Then I gave up french fries and "most" fast food. We do a lot of fast food stops because the girls schedule does not always allow sit down meals. Especially during spring softball season. But I did some research and found that the Carl's Jr chicken sandwich is only a little over 300 calories and 5 gm of fat and the Wendy's chicken sandwich (w/out the sauce) is about the same (and I prefer the flavor of the grilled sandwich at wendy's actually). Lots of fruit for snacks on the go and this year, since I hit a plataue, I added a gym membership. Summer sort of crashed and burned that one since I only pd for two kids in the child care center, but school resumes in two days and I hope to get back to 3-5 days/week 1 hour work out at the gym. Boosting your metabolism with exercise (as bad a word as that is) really makes a difference. I do allow myself "treats". we are having pizza for dinner tonight. But I try not to do that every day. Maybe once/week. that way, it doesn't really feel like I'm being deprived?
