Red Velvet WASC - Page 2

I 2nd BlakesCakes red velvet redux recipe. It's yummy, WASC-style that uses red velvet cake mix so you don't have to add any food coloring.

THIS RECIPE IS THE BEST.  FIRST TIME I MADE IT WAS ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND NOW PEOPLE ARE ASKING FOR IT LIKE CRAZY!! SO EASY TOO!!! I BAKED AT 300 DEGREES FOR THE FIRST HALF THEN RAISED THE TEMP TO 325 DEGREES FOR THE REMAINDER.  IT CAN ALSO BE DOUBLED VERY EASY.  NOT ONLY IS IT SOOO EASY AND FAST BUT VERY MOIST AND DELICIOUS!!!! EVERYONE NEEDS TO TRY THIS ONE FOR SURE!

Which cake recipe are you talking about? Which was the best

I just made it tonight. Too tired to type it out tonight. It was great. Will do it tomorrow if u remindme

I'd like to know what that is, too! haha

The only cake I make with a mix is red velvet. If you have access to Dawn red velvet mix, it's super easy and tastes exactly like what red velvet lovers expect. You have to have a scale to weigh the ingredients.

I think they are talking about the red velvet redux recipe on page 1. If not they should be. That recipe is fabulous and it has buttermilk as an ingredient. Some will only eat my red velvet cakes. I haven't had one that compares to it. HTH

I am going to attempt to make this for the first time!  You don't add any oil to it???

I am soooooo sorry - I didn't see your response -

Here is the recipe -

1 box of Duncan Hunes Red Velvet Cake mix

1 cup AP flour

1 cup sugar

1 cup sour cream

4 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp salt

1-2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder

1 1/3 cup water

Bake for 50 minutes at 300 degrees then raise temp to 325 and bake till done - approx 20-30 minutes

Me, too! Going to give it a try!

This was just okay for me. It turned out kind of tough. I like the flavor of my scratch RV better, but it almost always sinks. I think I may try adding just a little oil the next time to see if that softens it up. icon_smile.gif
