Hi
we have been commissioned to create a replica shopping mall in cake. All is good and we are not phased. But the client has asked that the cake has illumination. I need to create a tall tower with horizontal disks layered in the cake at different heights. These coloured sugar disk should be illuminated. I have some ideas, such as having a central void and illuminating from the inside the entire hight of the cake. Anyone with any other ideas.

A string of Christmas lights up the back, encased in plastic straw-type material and iced over.

I made a mounting for rice lights which were the smallest I could find.

I cut a circle out of foam core and carved out little sections of it around the outside perimeter to set the lights into so each bulb hung off the edge wagon wheel style. Then I mounted another board on top of that to hold it all in.

I made one for each tier.

Have you contacted companies over there that sell LED lights? They would be the best place to start, since most of them have technical support personnel who can help you with your display.

Or perhaps companies that sell party lights would be of help.

What about using glow sticks in the center of the column?

Great responses thanks everyone.
I like the idea of the glow stick up the middle. I could make the top removable top allow for replace ment.
