Please help - i made a red velvet cake, but the chocolate part of the cake ended up on the outside and the red on the inside - any ideas on why the cocoa seems to have separated from the mixture?

Did you mix the liquids together, then add to the dry ingredients?

What is the recipe and how did you prepare the batter. It is difficult to give advice with just 10% of the story.
