Does anyone know where to get hold of bulk (or bulk-ish) quantities of gum trag in Australia? I'm buying it in 20g packets at the moment & using them so fast it's getting ridiculous - there has to be a cheaper way of buying it surely?
I know Cake Deco in Melbourne sells it in a bigger jar...but I can't figure out if it's good value or not - there's no weight on the jar, and the store owner has told me (on two separate occasions) that he doesn't know what weight is in it (despite the fact that I'm pretty sure they fill the jars themselves - I'm guessing he doesn't want people to figure out that their 'value-pack' is actually no better value)
I think my mum gets it from Suzie Q's in Melbourne - http://www.susie-qcake.com.au/
The website is kind of old school and doesn't have products and prices, so you're best just to call them and ask.

Gum Tragacanth powder per 500 grams AUD $8.80
Postage Aust. Post I would expect $6-$10 as it is under 1kg

Thank you SO much!! Just ordered some. The 20g packets I've been getting were costing around $7 each, so I'm really happy to get a cheaper supply THANKYOU!!
Thanks for your suggestion Lauren...I did take a look at that website, and you're right - it is pretty old school isn't it...which is a shame, because they would sell a lot more supplies with a working website (although it does look like their main business is selling cakes - ?)
This post must be old. i checked to buy some and they dont even have the product any more.
Good quality Gum Tragacanth is normally hard to find and can be rather expensive.
Unless you want your fondant/gumpaste to be pliable, elastic & easy to shape, then you can buy CMC/Tylose as a much cheaper man made alternative.
