I have to use canned frosting for a cake I'm making (it's what the birthday boy wants), and was wondering if I could add powdered sugar to make it a little stiffer. I don't want to mess around with it too much if it will ruin it. I would like to pipe a border with it, but was afraid it would be way too soft just out of the can.

If anyone has experimented with this stuff, please let me know.

Thanks!

I have used 1 can frosting, 1 stick shortening and a box of powdered sugar. Then add flavoring of your choice. Makes a good amount and it crusts.

Thanks suz3! I bought lemon flavored canned frosting because that was what he wanted, so the flavor is there.... it just seemed too goopy for decorating.

I will add the shortening & sugar that you suggested. Thanx again!

p.s. I have a good friend who lives in Owasso!
