I'm so excited. icon_biggrin.gif I've just made my very first wedding cake and i'm so relieved!!!

It's not a paid order icon_sad.gif I made it for friends who are getting married this weekend, but i made the flowers by hand and wired them together and managed to get the white fondant pretty smooth.

Was terrified because the bride wanted something really clean and simple, which meant i had hardly anything to hide behind!

Anyway just sharing here because you guys will get my excitement! It means i can actually start thinking about a website as i have at least one wedding cake to display!

Thanks for reading!

Funny how it can make you so nervous, and yet so excited, too! I know exactly what you mean. Looks like you did a lovely job on the cake--the flowers are so pretty, and looks like your fondant is perfectly smooth to me. Great work, and congrats on your first wedding cake! thumbs_up.gif

Gorgeous cake. I love the flowers. Can I ask how you do them. I'd like to make some for a cake I'm doing and wondered about the black stamen and what cutters to use. icon_smile.gif

Thanks everyone. Cocobongo, I made the flowers using my largest rose petal. each petal was frilled and individually wired. The black centres are covered in sugartex and i poked it black stamen all the way around. Each one took about 25 minutes - i've got to get faster!!!

It looks great! And as for time, I seem to remember watching an episode of Cake Boss where they made anemones and Buddy said it took a half hour to make each one, so I think 25 minutes sounds pretty good! But definitely time consuming! You did a great job!

I just completed my first one too, and I was at the wedding so it was added stress. I got to see first hand the reaction when people took a bite. Thankfully I only had good reviews. I'll still be just as nervous for my 2nd I'm sure.

I think your cakes are wonderful and you certainly have enough of them to make a beautiful display on a website. It is clear to see that even though you only have one wedding cake that you have the talent to offer to do many more!!

Very nice work. I would have never guessed it was your first wedding cake.

Hey, what support system did you use to stack each tier?

Me too!

My first wedding cake is a black and white that I gave as a gift to my husband's nephew and his bride. I was so pleased with the result, and also to the fact that now I have something to show to future clients.

Its worth the investiment.

Your cake is so clean and elegant, and the flowers so beautiful!! You will have tons of orders.... Congratulations.

Thank you all so much! Even when you think you've done a pretty good job, it's still terrifying to show the client!

Wedding was yesterday and bride was delighted.

Actually used the sps system - ordered it on Ebay and had it shipped to the UK. But well worth it for peace of mind!

Thanks all for your support and encouragement. It really does mean alot!
