Doing a suitcase for tomorrow, and she wanted luggage stickers on the suitcase from places her and her hubby have been.

Im wondering if I can cut out the images and place them directly on the fondant so it looks just like stickers, or do you think the paper is too thin and the brown will show through it? I plan on doing it a light-medium brown. I see a lot of those cakes on this site that look like the image is on fondant, then stuck on the bag. Is this why?

I only have one shot at doing this so that is why Im asking first. If I start to do something and mess up, Im screwed. lol. I only got one sheet printed because they are $7/each. Didnt want to spend $14 on two pages just to have extras I may not even need...so...yeah. Help? What do you think is the best way to apply these?

I only put edible images on a separate white piece of fondant if the background of the cake is REALLY dark. And I use rice paper. If you're using an icing sheet, and it's light brown, you should be fine. BUT, if you're in doubt, go the extra mile and do the white background. Hope that helps!

Hi JC, when I use edible images I usually place them on a piece of fondant first, let it dry a little and put them on the cake...that works for me unless one of the experts has better advice for you.

Good luck!

If the cake is white fondant I would place the EI directly on to the fondant.

I use icing sheets not rice paper and i would put the image directly on the light brown luggage.

I did mine on icing sheets and placed the "decals" directly on the cake. I used a light brown for the luggage though, not dark brown. I'll try to post a picture.

Something that I've seen a few times is that people put the decals on the other way around so they can be read by someone standing at the front of the cake. But when have you ever seen a piece of luggage with the decals upside down?

Thank you. It was a lot of fun to do and not very difficult. The hardest part was finding just the right decals on line! In this case, they also corresponded to places this person had been, airlines she loved and places she wanted to visit.
