i need help getting my chocolate buttercream a darker shade and more chocolately tasting. as of now i use 1/2 cup of cocoa added to the buttercream and its too...light. light brown and not chocolate looking. how do i get it more intense?

You can add melted chocolate to the buttercream. I've use chocolate chips and I've also used ganache. Turned out really yummy. If that doesn't make it dark enough you can always use coloring, but I've found that adding melted chocolate give you good flavor & color

The richest and darkest chocolate icing I have made was done using Hersey's Special Dark Cocoa powder. Yummy!

If you need deeper chocolate flavor or a deeper color then add more chocolate, you'll just probably have to add a little extra liquid.

Southern Living has a really good chocolate recipe. It uses melted unsweetened, and semi-sweet baker's chocolate along with cocoa poweder. It's really dark and delicious!
