Hi all,

after having another browse thru the questions as you do when you are addicted to this forum... should be cleaning, baking, icing but no, I am on the forum again and another 2 hours has past !

Back to my question.. Which sticks do you use for a cookie bouquet?

Do you make a lot of them? (bouquets?)
Do you sell them?
and so it goes on. Would love to hear which ones you choose and why? Its a cost thing for me, I use long stirrers ( like paddlepop sticks but longer and thinner), and a LOT cheaper.

Long Lollipop (Wilton?) sticks from Michaels - sturdy. If you buy at Michaels you get 40% off - that takes care of the cost factor...I have made the odd one and no, I dont sell. I took a course once and they suggested these, so I haven't used anything else for my choc or cookie pops. You can bake them with the sticks in. I'm not clear on how you could use stir sticks -they would melt in the oven. Or you'd have to attach after - pain...

I use cookie sticks for my 1/2 inch cookies and lollipop sticks for my 1/4 inch cookies. As a general rule I charge about $4 per cookie + $5-$10 for the container for the 1/2 inch. That price is for a mixed size bouquet (small, medium, & large cookies. It probably works out to the $1 per inch price.

For my 1/4 inch cookies, I use small to medium cookies that have very simple decoration (one color, basic outline with the thinned icing) I charge $1 per cookie + 5-$10 for the container.

i use bamboo skewers, i can get 100 for $1. Plus they have a presharpened end that slides into the cookies easier.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't know if I should change to cookie pops sticks.

We don't have a Michaels here so it costs us avg $7.95 for 20 cookie pop sticks. So the price is a real concern for me, as all the packaging and the icing is so much more than the cookies.

the stirrers are a longer skinnier paddlepop stick, gives me the extra length without the point of the skewer for Kids orders.

Once again, its good to know what else is happening out there. thank you.

Do you bake the cookies with the bamboo skewers already inserted? If so, do you have to soak the skewers first so they don't burn?

hi, I bake with skewers inserted, and out of habbit I give them a quick dip in water before, however I have forgotten a few times and the sticks did not burn.
