I found the cricut cake bundle on costco's website for $299 including shipping, as far as I can tell, it is the same bundle hsn has for $399. It comes with extra blades, cleaner, mat, the regular cake cartridge and the elegant one, and a few other things that all seem standard. Plus they are an additional $20 off from 11/26 through 12/12. This is the best deal I have found, just wondering if anyone knows of a better price before I buy. Or if I am overlooking some important item that will cost me in the long run. I'm so excited about the idea of getting one, but want to be a smart shopper.
Michaels has them for $149. You should question why they were $400 a few months ago and are now being discounted so heavily. Could it be that so many were returned to the retail stores? Could it be that a lot of people don't like them? Have you read a lot of online reviews?
My dh called all the Michaels in our state yesterday .. none of them had the cricut at that price ... they are reduced down to that because they are clearing them out, for the new one, from Martha Stewart .. some stores had them as low as 89 ...
my michaels had one for 99.99 and 70% off all the cake accesories including the cake cartridges. I love mine and have not had any problems with it cutting shapes.
could someone who wanted a regular cricut for scrapbooking be able to use the cake? isn't the only differance that there are no rings on the roller?
Are the $149-199 ones the mini or full size? My online JoAnn ad had the mini for that price, not the full size. I have read that they are difficult to use until you get the hang of it, so I want to be sure to buy it from someone who will take it back if necessary.
Maybe I'll wait around and see what happens. Thanks for all the info!

Our Micheal's had a big sale too, however, they got no Cricuts in for the sale and won't be getting any. They told us they were no longer going to carry it.
I saw that Joanns had the mini on black friday for 99.99, and the reg. one was advertised for 249.99. But Michaels black friday ads have not been released publicly yet. Where did you find that price for the one at michaels?
I get the coupons from Michaels e-mailed every week. They had a link to their Black Friday ads on there. The Cricut that is on sale for $69.99 on Black Friday is the Personal Electronic Cutter Machine (Cricut V1). It's not a Cricut Cake.
Go to http://dealspl.us/michaels-coupons and sign up for their e-mail. You can get access to their ad paper also.
Hope this helps!!
I shopped around forrrrever until I got one completely new on ebay for $169 dollars with the cartiladges and everything! Make sure you check ebay first to see if you can get a good deal on a new one!!!
However, I do have to agree with an earlier poster... I really think it was hype for me because I really never use mine. Maybe there will come a time when it becomes useful but it just is to much of a hassle for me.
do any of you who own the original cricut cake model think that the cricut cake mini would be less of a hassle? I know they pretty much do the same thing, although the original obviously does more, but since the mini is more compact, would you use it more? Or does size have nothing to do with it? I can see me not really wanting to lug out the big one since it would not be able to just sit on my countertop all the time.
I found my Cricut at Michaels about a month ago when they first went on clearance. My nearest Michaels had them for $149 but were out of them when I got there. The Michaels in the next city over had them for $199 so I picked it up as well as some of the accessories that were marked at 50% off. I went ahead and purchased some of the regular Cricut cartridges from AC Moore and Michales since they were all on sale and/ or clearance and are compatible with the Cricut Cake machine. I hope all the expense wasn't a waste because I have only gotten as far as taking the machine out of the box. Hopefully it doesn't give me any problems.
I just bought the big one at Michael's for $99 and I love it. It is not that big of a deal to me to get it out when I need it.
I have a friend who does amazing things with it, but said it doesnt save you any time and is kind of a pain. So I never bought one. I can think of lots of cutters I could use for that same price.
There isn't one in stock at Michaels anywhere in my area. Oh well, good things some to those who wait... I guess I'll wait a little longer.

What is the new Martha Stewart one like? Here in Canada they were $500 but now on sale for $200. It's so tempting to get but I'm curiuos about the Martha Stewart one and I wonder how much they'll sell that one for?
I found a martha stewart one on e bay, it was white ... I don't know the exact differences between the two or not, but the one listed on e bay was selling for 588.88 ... a little steep for these pockets!!
I saw the Cricut cake bundle for $299 with a $50 rebate at Costco. I think it was a online purchase special. I'm all excited too, since the only other one's I've seen have been $400. My Michaels and Hobby Lobby haven't put any on sale cheap or otherwise that I know of. So before I hop up and buy one from Costco I want to know if that is the best deal.
I just wanted to update this and say that amazon now has the martha stewart cake machine for 229.99
I saw a video on youtube where you can convert the regular cricut cutter to do fondant, but it didn't go smoothly and seemed like a lot of trouble. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but why the drop in price on the cricut cake all the sudden?
I found the new one on the Home Shopping Channel in Canada - it was the bundle for the Martha Stewart one. It was almost $400.00
I went to Michaels and they were sold out here, went to Walmart and the old model (red) was $299.00 so I picked one up. Hoping to play with it this week and try out some fun stuff.
Costco.ca also has it on their website but it was over $300. when I checked so I skipped that one.

Michaels decided that they didn't want to sell them anymore, I think they are getting the Martha Stewart one. Cricut Cake still exists, just can't get it at Michaels anymore.
I bought one and it was $500 reg price and I paid $99! And my accessories were 80% off. I figured I saved about $570 in the end. Soooo glad I didn't buy it when it first came out. I also think if they can afford to sell them for $99 (even though it's a clearance price) the mark up on these machines is INSANE. I wish I could mark up my cakes the way they mark things up... lol.
