i'll be watching this too, i hope you get some good answers it's on my to buy list finally.
I have the basic one from Wal-mart and wonder how I ever lived without it! Consistant, easy measuring! DUH to me for not getting one sooner!
I have an Escali. It's the same one we used in my Baking & Pastry classes. It was $50 from pastrychef.com. It was a great investment. My kids are not allowed to touch it!

Best $20 I ever spent.
no more piles of measuring cups to wash. No more realizing you've already used both of your 1/3 cups for molasses and crisco when it comes time to measure the 1/3 cup of cornstarch.
Just add one ingredient to the correct weight. Reset. Add the next ingredient to its correct weight. Reset. And continue...
Mine is a Salton - Not sure of the model but it has:
Grams and Ounces/Pounds
Auto Zero
Auto Shutoff
Best investment I could have ever made. I love recipes that are already converted to gram or ounces so that I don't have to do it.
Using a scale makes for more accurate and consistent baking, as it is a science.

Best $20 I ever spent.
Which one do you have?
I'll have to check when I get home. I think I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond.
I got a Polder digital scale and I really like it. Very simple to use, there's actually a reiew of it coming up on my blog next week, but I'd recommend it for home use.
It's this one. Very simple and cheap but very sturdy and reliable. I've had it for several years now (they may have a new model) and it's still going strong.
Hi
I've recently treated myself to some Salter digital scales and they are loads better than my old ones.
The display is easier to read and they even weigh liquids in fl oz or ml!! no more using baby bottles when I need more than a tablespoon lol

Rub it in!!! ha ha ha
Thanks to everyone, I'm hoping that I can get one during black friday (if I want to fight the crowd!
Got mine at Target.
But the only draw back is that it only goes up to 5 pounds. Not that I'm doing more cakes, I wish it went higher, maybe 8-10 pounds.
