Cricut Cake, Should I Buy It? Is It Worth It?

The Cricut Cake is being offered at a ridiculously low price ($149) and I have done a little research on the machine. On all of the promos it looks like it works like a dream, yet online reviews have told different stories. I'd like to know your opinion/experience with it if you already own it. Did it perform as you expected? What's the learning curve? I have never worked with a crafting machine of any kind so I am not quite sure what to expect.
I have the cricut expressions. It's fine for use with wafer paper. i can't get it to work with anything else. But think about it - the product debuted a few *months* ago at $400 or so and now is being unloaded at $149. What does that tell you?
I paid $300.00 and it's sitting in the closet. Too frustrating. I'm embarrassed that I paid that much.
I have purchased the Cricut Cake when it first came out. I like it very much and have been able to cut come things with it. However I find myself using my X-ACTO more.... $149.00 beats what I paid.
It has just gone on sale in uk already had bad reviews here. I woill not buy it from reviews on here alone!
Who is selling it for $149?? I do not have it, so I cannot give you an opinion. But, to cut out a message for the cake or board alone, I'm willing to look into it (my icing writing is terrible) and I usually really on tappits or cutters
I have a Cricut Expression and a Cricut Cake. I bought the Cricut Cake because I have so many cartridges for my Expression that I can now use for my Cricut Cake as well. All of the knowledge I have from using the Expression has made using the Cake easier for me. I think I would have been disappointed with the Cricut Cake otherwise. It takes patience to get the cuts the way you want them but the end result is very nice. I just bought the rest of the Cake cartridges for $19.99 each, so cheap. Looking forward to using them for scrapbooking too. There is a new smaller version Cricut Cake that may someday be more reasonably priced. Good luck on your decision.
Leah, I was thinking along the same lines... why the drastic price drop and then rumors that it's being discontinued. Grandma, I have hat inkling that it will collect dust in my closet too. Thanks Ivy for the feed back... xacto is my friend too. Wow Jilly, they say bad new travels fast huh? lol Cinjam, I am in Chicago, IL and Michael's is the only place that has it reduced. Joann's still has it at full price.
I have a Cricut Cake and while I don't use it every week, it does come in very handy. I did invest in the SCAL (Sure Cuts a Lot) program so that I don't have to buy all those cartridges. I can cut any Windows font, which makes cutting monograms a non-event.
I just got the cake at Michael's for $99. The accessories are 70% off too.
Wow!
I love mine. check out this cake
