What is the trick to keep a 5 inch double layer cake to stay on my turntable while I'm frosting it. I keep chasing it all over the place and I can't get the frosting smooth. I hate frosting small cakes. If anyone out there knows a trick please tell me. I have to get this cake done today!!!

You can put a little corn syrup of piping gel on the turnable under your cake board. Let it sit for a min and it should hold it in place.

I just use the non-skid mats (ones for under rugs) which can easily be cut to size.

I use rubber shelf liner. Can buy it at the dollar store.

Ditto, ditoo! The non-skid rubber mats either come in a roll to cut or lately, I've been getting the pre-cut circles 4/$1.00. Can't beat that. I buy enough to give away to those that want to pick up a cake so they have some security in their vehicles. Great $.25 cent give-a-way. They are perfect for putting between the cake board & the turntable & under my icing bowls when I'm scraping my spatula.Image
