A cherpumple is the dessert version of a turducken (A turducken is a dish consisting of a de-boned chicken stuffed into a de-boned duck, which itself is stuffed into a de-boned turkey) icon_twisted.gif

I was just asked this morning if I would make one of these for a customer. I told her I am always up for a challenge. How fun.

Cherry pie inside a cake then a pumpkin pie inside a cake and an apple pie inside a cake then all stacked and frosted.

To me it doesn't look very appetizing and looks hard to frost nicely.

Once stacked it is the same principle as any other cake ... trim the edges icon_razz.gif

I loooove Charles! Best video and a great personality.

But I am not so in love with cherpumple. It is probably because I am not a pie fan. icon_surprised.gif
I like pumpkin at the holidays and sometimes a good apple pie, but that is about it. However, the cakery where I work makes home made pies for the Thanksgiving holiday. So this year we are having pumpkin pie and caramel apple pie. The caramel apple may be the one that will convert me.

Still I don't think I would make a cherpumple. Maybe when I was 20, but (sigh) not now.

This would have gone great with last thanksgivings Turducken. I think I'll try one layer.. I don't know enough people to consume three!

Wouldn't it be better to put pie filling into the cake batter instead of putting a whole pie in?

Just a thought.

Maureen, that's the genius of it! The pie crust contains the filling while baking. Otherwise, it would mix unevenly and you would get raw spots.

sounds like a great challenge for cake decorators! get this thing looking good! i might not invest in the ingredients to make a whole cherpumple, but it might be neat to do just one pie-in-cake. it'd be good for a laugh!
