I was asked to make a number 1 cake with an elmo on top. Now Im very bad with pricing and i always go above and beyond to make every cake irresistible. she wants a number 1 cake to serve 25 to 30 ppl. with a rice krispy treat elmo. She knows the elmo is $20 charge more but i have no clue what to charge for the cake. i always make round and stacked cakes.. any ideas? just buttercream with buttercream accents and buttercream elmo...Thanks
Take whatever your normal pricing is and add .50 or 1.00 per serving. So if you need to charge $3.00/serving for your uncarved cakes, add .50 or whatever and charge $3.50/serving. Carved numbers tend to be meager on the servings, so make sure you're charging enough to make it worth your while. Also, you may want to charge based on the servings of the actual cakes before you carve to make sure your expenses are covered for the ingredients you use.
I charge my carved cakes the same price as 3D because they take more time,make a mess,usually bake more cake and you end up throwing away the excess..(or making cakeballs) with the scraps.So if I were making a number cake for 25...it would be $125.00
