I have been rather absent of late, opening my bakery in Madrid. I am really pleased with the results. I opened last Tuesday and am quite surprised with the amount of custom I have had, considering I didn't really do a mass marketing effort. Anyway, since I love nosing at other peoples bakery pictures, I thought I would return the favour and show you mine! The pictures were taken before the kitchen had been used and there are no cakes or cupcakes in the counter, sorry!
I hope you like it. It has been a lot of hard work and, let's be honest, a lot of money! But I am very optimistic in that I will reap the rewards, at some point anyway. 
That looks like such a nice place...Are you doing only custom cakes, or do you have a shop where people can just walk in and buy things that you have ready?
Thankyou! The floors are actually ceramic tiles, they just look like wood. Its great because they don't scratch and you can mop the heck out of them.
I do custom cakes and also have a small counter where you can get cupcakes, brownies, cookies, slice of cake etc with a coffee or soft drink, or to take away. I have about 12 different kinds of goods to sell. I have to wait it out and see a bit longer what is popular and what is not. So far people are loving the cupcakes (its a fairly new phenomenon in Spain believe it or not), not loving the brownies so much (which have been around for years). Maybe they are just not pretty enough sitting next to the cupcakes!

The only thing I had clear about ever opening my own place was having the work area glassed in. I LOVE going to restaurants and seeing the chefs in the kitchens work. It is also nice to know the place where you are eating is clean.
It is quite hard to work cleanly though! I'm still getting used to that, putting things away as soon as I am finished with them and I have a damp cloth at my side all the time. Makes clean up at the end of the day quicker though! I guess I got into bad habits when I was doing this at home and no one could see me. There is only one tiny bit that cannot be seen by customers from the counter or the hallway where the toilets are, which is the corner where I store the jumble of cake pans and other utensils.
Also, since I have to work in the kitchen (except when I am out at the counter), I didn't want to feel walled in. My previous job was in an office for 10 years and I kind of felt like a change!
As for the other decoration, I wanted to work in a nice place since I am there 12 hours a day. Also, it reflects the image I would like to portray of a slightly more upmarket place. Well, I'm trying to anyhow!

The furniture is a nice touch. Looks welcoming yet clean...perfect.

I have 70m2 in total, which according to Google is 753 sq ft. The kitchen is 25m2. Then I have the lounge/counter area which is the same size as the kitchen, store/office (most of the stuff is stored in the kitchen), bin and cleaning materials room, and the public toilets. My toilet is off the kitchen, where the wooden door is, with separate loo and handwashing/changing area. The local rules and regulations determined what size each area had, except for the kitchen. I just decided I wanted that nice and big

Beautiful bakery..I love the glass but would be worried about people watching..Sometimes our best creations don't look so hot until they are finished.I'm not sure I would want to have everyone see the little tricks of the trade to hide mistakes/messy tiers etc...LOL

Oh tell me about it. I can try and hide behind the (small) coffee machine and hope no one walks to the bathroom and sees me swearing at myself trying to fix my mess! Having said that, I am not on a main street so I don't get that many walk in customers, so I have some "quiet" periods where I can just get on with stuff. But Murphy's law says when you are up to your elbows in a falling cake or elephant skin fondant, someone will see you!
