Best Way To Make Black Frosting?

Hello All, I'm making a spider cake and I'm contemplating using a different color besides black because I don't want it to stain everyones mouths. Do you think I should or is there a better way to make black so you don't have to use soooo much black coloring? Thanks in advance!
I always put coco powder in my icing to help with the black color. Just sift it as you would the PS and it will require much less black coloring. HTH
I may be to late for this.... but I start with chocolate BC, it is normally pretty dark.... and Only have to ad a TINY TINY bit of black for a deep black! (Gel food coloring.) It didn't stain anyones mouth, and I had a whole racetrack covered in it.
