I've been asked to make a cake but it's not the sort of feather decoration, it's more like the ice paper is ripped into maybe rose petal shapes, then curled to make tubes and then stuck to the cake so it's got real texture.

Does anyone have any advice who has worked with rice paper before. I was thinking of attaching them to the cake with RI. I guess one concern would be that when rice paper gets wet, it dissolves.

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

are you sure its not Norm Davis's cake covered with chocolate curls. Rice paper wilts and gets soggy when wet but doesn;t really dissolve. you can steam it to soften it and shape and it will also make it go wavy like dried leaves.

Hi Sweetcakes.

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty sure it's rice paper. Here's a link:

It's photo 232.

I didn't see a 232. I went through it twice. Sorry.

I agree with Sweetcakes, it looks like white chocolate curls.

Good grief - how annoying is that home page icon_confused.gificon_rolleyes.gif

I agree - i thnk it looks like rice paper...
If only a tiny dab of white chocolate or icing was used to adhere the *petals* to the actual cake - i don't see why they would go limp and soggy .
