Do cake decorating turntables really help? If so can anyone recommend one under £20 that can be purchased in the UK? I bake and decorate as a hobby for friends and family so it's not something I'll be using professionally. Thanks
I couldn't imagine trying to ice a cake without a turntable. Mine is a really cheap one - nothing great - but I'd be lost without it. Global Sugar Art has some inexpensive ones (about 9 gbp and 5 gbp), and I'm pretty sure they ship internationally.
HTH!
I find my turntable invaluable so would recommend you invest in one, however they CAN be expensive here in the UK. I have heard some people have purchased a 'Lazy Susan' very cheap from Ikea and it does the job great.
I wouldn't even try to ice or decorate a cake without my turntable!! Do you have an IKEA store nearby? I know some decorators use their lazy susan, and it's very affordable.

I have never decorated a cake with a turntable - but if someone bought one for me i'd give it a try! lol
I "tried" to decorate my cake when I did not have my turntable with me & it was so incredibly frustrating. I'm sure a lazy susan would work if they're too expensive where you are.
I LOVE my turntable. It's a turntable delux. One side is for a half sheet cake and the other side has a round base. It rotates regardless of which side you use.

I'm not 100% positive....I work for a cake shop and bought it here...but I'm almost that this is the one I have right here: (CK products)

It's really nice and weighty too. I can't imagine not using it.
Do you all have turntables that are on pedestals? Mine is low and I sit it on top of a cake pan to give it more height. I was wondering if anyone else has other ideas to give it more height?
