Heat lamp for sugar

Is there any certain specifications for a sugar heat lamp, or can you rig up your own from the hardware store?

This week had my first experiences with isomalt, and I've always loved watching them do sugarwork on tv and I love watching glasswork too so I would LOVE to maybe work under a heat lamp to make flowers and stuff but....I don't want to necessarily invest a whole lot of money at this point.

I took a class with B. Keith Ryder and the ones he makes and sells just uses one from the hardware store.

He used a PVC frame, and heavy duty vinyl around it to hold the warmth in, hung the lamp with a clamp at the top to keep it in place. Silpat on the bottom to work the sugar.

I just took my first sugar class and loved it. I just bought mine - went to the hardware store. Get a ceramic bulb base so that it can withstand the heat, a heating lamp bulb (the red ones) and use a clamp to hold it in place.
