This is my first attempt at using an edible image. Is there a special way of doing it? I am using a half sheet with buttercream frosting.

I am assuming it is already printed on and ready to use. You want to frost your cake smooth. Make sure your icing has moisture in it, if not, you want to spritz some water on the cake to moisten the frosting. If you are using our premiium brand, you should be able to peel it easily from the back of the icing sheet. (if you are using a different brand, you may have trouble peeling it and you may need to stick it in the freezer for about 10 seconds). Once peeled, flex the image in half so your two long ends are in your hands. Place the center of the image on the center of your cake and gently place the image on the cake. Making sure you have dry hands, smooth the image down on to the cake making sure the image meets the cake so there are no air bubbles.
