Has anyone ever used Challenge brand white butter in their buttercream? How is it?

Hi Boyd...I have actually never heard of this before. I am bumping up this post to see if anyone has tried it. It would be great for pure white buttercream icing.

Don't know about the Challenge Brand White Butter, but as I am not a butter fan, I use the SuperStore White Margarine and it works and tastes great according to all my cake eaters !!!

The white Margarine used with the clear Vanilla or Almond extract makes a beautiful bright True White Icing !

I'm in Houston. I got a pound of it at Wal-Mart and just saw it at Randall's as well. They have it in sticks and tubs and the sticks are salted and unsalted. White butter...cool! I'm using it next week. Will advise...

If you check out your local health food stores, they often have "natural" butters that are white or ivory because no colour is added...but it's pricier for sure.

Thanks Boyd...I am also in Houston. I will pick some up the next time I am in Walmart. I will make a single batch to see what happens.

That's exciting! I love all-butter buttercream, but sometimes need a pure white.

That's all I buy if I can make it to Fiesta, since none of the other stores here carry it (and I don't shop Wal-mart). At $2.99/lb, it's not quite as cheap as the store brand, but it's cheaper than either Borden or Land O'Lakes. It's a fantastic sweet butter. I love it, but I have yet to use it in BC. I did use it in my last cream cheese icing, and it was much whiter than before. It's probably also a superior butter to start with, but I think one of the differences in the unsalted is that they wrap it in foil. LO'L used to, but I think they use paper now, which lets the butter go rancid faster.

I just went to their website to check it out. I have not tried it yet but you can sign up for a 50 cent coupon. They email it to you.

Hey, every little bit helps!

I picked some up at Walmart a couple of days ago. However, I must have got the wrong one because it was yellow. Is the white unsalted???
