Anyone out there in Cake Central land know what the law says about baking cakes in your home kitchen? I will contact the Health Dept. but thought I would put this out there and see what others might know.

It varies region to region. I found it very hard to find info via the internet so I called my town and got their info as well as the York Region health dept and got their info.
In York region you can have a home based cake business, but you need a seperate kitchen facility to meet with health rgulations. Both the Town and HD people were very helpful, it's your best bet. Then you know for sure what the rules are and not based on what someone else has said.

i find it very challenging to find information about any canadian home based baking business on line (i'm in manitoba), so i am going to contact the public health department directly to get the facts straight from the source! good luck!! icon_lol.gif

I found the best place to gather info was to get hold of your cities by-laws and read through it.. I'm pretty sure the rules are the same everywhere in terms of separte kitchen, commercal zoning, non-residental rentals etc... talk to the liscencing board, he health department, and zoning... they'll prolly tell you three different things, lol...but you'll get it figured out!!
