Today is the day that Creative Confections by Vickey was born! Yippppeeeee!
I am legal! I have been working diligently from daylight to way past dark for the past 3 weeks, but it has all panned out. The health inspector came by this morning for my inspection and I received a 98. Business license (both county and city) are on the wall right next to my inspection. Can you tell that I am excited?
Sorry this is gonna be long, but I just have to share.
OK. Here goes I am the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and have a wonderful husband. My oldest daughter is in Spec. Ed and is on an abbreviated day at school. She goes in at 8, we pick her up at 10:20, take her back at 1:20 and then she comes home at 3:20. So I have not been able to work a real job in a while and things have been getting really tough for us financially. About 1 ½ months ago, I decided that I wanted to start baking and decorating cakes to sell. So I started doing a little research, found Cake Central (thank God I did), and started praying (Lord if its your will, You will have to make it happen.) With the finances being so tight, I just knew that I wasnt gonna be able to afford a lot of the things that I would need to start a business.
Started out that I went to Michaels (really wanting the Ultimate Decorating Kit) but thought that I would settle for what we could afford ( not much). I already had the bare basics, Id be ok. Well, a total stranger walks up to me and handed me a coupon for 45% off. She told me that I needed to use that coupon today! So I did, and I got the kit that I was wanting for only $110.
Then I started looking for a 3 compartment sink. Found an article that a restaurant about 1 ½ hrs away had built a new restaurant and was having a yard sale to get rid of the things from the old one. There I found a 90 3 compartment sink with 2 drain boards ($959 value), with the 3 rotary waste valves ($59.99 each) and faucet ($52.99). All of this for only $200.00.
Shelves for dry storage (5- 4 shelves, coasters, etc.) brand new for $50.00. I had a stove, bought my residential hood for $20. Bought a brand new 6 QT Kitchen aide for $300. I had the extra space at my home with an entrance without coming into the living quarters. My Dear Dad (72 y/o) has worked so hard to help and has done all of the electrical and plumbing at NO Charge.
I know that I have a very long way to go before I am half as good at decorating as some of you folks, but I am practicing daily and know that this is meant to be.
I am The ONLY licensed cake shop in town, so I really expect this business to do well.
Keep your fingers crossed!
