Would you want to eat a spoonful of crunchy sugar on your cake? I don't find that appealing icon_razz.gif I use graham crumbs, nilla wafer crumbs, or oreo crumbs, depending on the application...all three combined makes for very realistic sand, might i add! icon_wink.gif

I don't like the taste of brown sugar or graham crackers. I think vanilla wafers would be more palatable.

I have tried brown sugar as sand and it doesn't taste very good.

Vanilla wafers for me, or combining with grahams and a "little" brown suagr.

If you want some sparkle, add some of the large sugar crystals

Ohh I am so glad I asked it seemed like a dumb question, but never thought about what would happen when eaten (lol so siked to try and make a cake) I like the idea of doing a combo or waffers and gram and maybe some sugar fr the sparkle.

Thanks ladies

I use a combo of vanilla wafer, graham crackers, white and brown sugar. Very realistic looking and tastes just fine.
