Hi Everyone,
I am in the midst of trying to make a 3d pumpkin cake for my sons bake sale. The one I am making now is just for practice. Anyways does anyone have any instructions for me? Anything will help. I already baked to bundt cakes but I really don't know where to go from there. Thanks for any help in advanced.
You would carve the bottom of the cakes so they are flat and even and bc them together (the bottoms) and this will shape your pumpkin. Go to youtube and search 3d pumpkin cake...maybe a tutorial there.
here is a video how Duff does a pumpkin cake:
(his is to give you an idea on how he decorate it cause he uses half foam/half cake)
hope that helps...

I bake two bundt cakes. One goes right side to the bottom and the other right side up. I put a bit of filling in the middle, usually buttercream. Then after I coat the entire thing with buttercream and let sit in the fridge for about 20 minutes. Then I roll out white fondant, enough to cover both bundt cakes. I try to take care not to make the whole in the center not too deep and not rip it. Then with my fingers or a ball tool I go along the curves that the bundt pan made in the cake.
I make my stem by taking Chocopan and shape it into a large roll. I flatten one sit and make the other side a bit thinner. Then I take a tool and carve irregular ridges going down the sides. I set it in the fridge to get hard.
Then I take green and airbrush the very top a little. Then I take orange and go over the rest of the pumpkin. You can attach the stem with some melted chocolate. And Voila! If you want to make it even neater you can carve the side of the cake after you crumb coat and then when you cover it in fondant you can put black fondant inside or orange or yellow whichever you like!
You can see the finished result in my pics.
the only thing I had trouble with was getting the fondant to straighten out when I got towards the bottom (since the bottom curves inwards)
So, just take care to go slow when covering in fondant (if you are not buttercreaming)
