Awesome. Well that makes sense Now doesn't it ! - for some reason I was thinking maybe it was done with a whole sheet of icing not individual peices. I will have to try this now that I know- so simple yet so effective.
I would assume it still took some time to do?
When you got to the top of the tier, did you trim down all the excess sitting at the top or some how flatten it down?
I guess a cake like this would always need a big flower on top to cover all the joins and pieces?
I just trimmed the extra fondant away. Something is needed on the top of the cake - flower or topper of some sort.
