Dh's friend showed up at my door unexpectedly while I was baking and after chatting with him for about 20 mins, I realized that the whole conversation took place while

a) I was still wearing my hairnet
b) there was cake batter on my glasses

all of this I realized AFTER he left!

LOL!!!!

That's awesome. The hair net is a good thing..shows how conscious you are of clean baking. As for the cake batter, it sounds adorable.

I dread people seeing what I look like when I bake. Especially when I work with chocolate.

Remember the phrase "You get what you see" I have a set of clothes that look raggedy. Customers and friends for insurance reasons are not allowed there but... I often come out and I am sure its kinda scary. rofl...

He probably never noticed icon_wink.gif

After work one day, I stopped by the gas station, got gas and a drink, paid inside. Then I went to a restaurant and waited in the bar for my order. I just visited with the other customers. Made one more stop and after arriving home realized I still had my hairnet on ;-( Luckily, I also had my chef coat on, so at least people would understand, but wouldn't you think someone would have mentioned it?

icon_lol.gif Reminds me of the time I ran to the corner store for more butter....got home & realized I had big smears of red velvet cake batter all over my t-shirt. I looked like I'd been doing some butchering instead of baking!

O my GOODNESS, I am laughing so hard at all the stories you ladies have posted. This post is just what I needed today, Thank you. The image of you in hair net and batter on your glasses is priceless, Im sure you looked professional and cute all at the same time. I once went to the store to pick up some more Marshmallows and when I got home my husband asked me if I knew I had hand prints on my butt, lol. my2 yr old daughter comes up to me and hits my butt and says "momma I want" this or that. She had been playing in the powder sugar as well. and to top it all off, yes my Capri pants were BLACK, lol.

More so than getting caught out looking like a train wreck while cake decorating it would be worse if people can see the nervous wreck I am am in! Language can get pretty bad as well - it certainly seems to bring out the worst in me so certainly wouldn't want anybody catching me in my "decorating mode". Not normally a potty mouth but I think I take after my Mum, she never utters a swear word until she starts sewing....

Thanks so much for your funny stories!!! It's funny how one can get so absorbed in caking that appearance gets forgotten!

Oh, I used to swear when I started caking, but I've mellowed lots. Now it takes a lot to get me going!

My husband has pointed out several times when I'm walking around the house or headed out to do errands and have powdered sugar on my eyebrows and tip of my nose.

I always have two beers after a long day of caking, this is about twice a month. one time there where 3 beers left and since i had a really hard day i decide it would make sense to drink all of them. when my DH got home the cake was done and i was drunk. He didnt know what was going on. LOL!!! Of course this is when everyone drops by as im stuttering drunk.

Love the drunk story!!!! As long as you're not drunk while you're caking - that would make for some crooked cake!
