Wilton candy melts don't seem to melt thin enough?

Hi, I am trying it make candy covered oreos and the candy melts just seem too thick I know I haven't over heated I am using the wilton chocolate pro to melt I am adding shortening but It just doesn't seem to get runny enough is this just the way they are or do I need to add even more shortening? Is there a better brand or would white chocolate chips be better to use and then just use the candy colors to color it?
Thanks

I ran into the same problem, but I read somewhere that you can thin it out with a little bit of canola or vegtable oil. I tried it and it worked pretty well. You just put a teeny bit it and stir, keep doing that until you get the consistancy you want.

I tried the wilton melts and had the same problem. So then I tried the Merkens Brand of melts and they were excellent. They left my cake pops with a lovely smooth, not too thick coat and they tasted really good.

I do prefer the Merkens to Wilton. But a little oil shoudl help out some. It's like making chocolate for a fountain.

If you want what you're making to set up shiny and have a snap when eaten, DON'T add crisco or veg. oil, add paramount crystals to thin the chocolate/candy coating.

Adding oil makes the coating set up soft and dull.
