Going to try my hand for the first time at making caramel apples. I have seen for other candy and confections bakers add shortening to the chocolate to make it thinner and easier to spread. Can i do this with the chocolate that I will put on my apples after the caramel has set?

yes... just not too much or it can stay too soft to wrap or store
