Hi there,
I have an order for a vegan cake, which is easy to substitute for, but I don't have a buttercream recipe that is vegan. Can someone help?
Thanx!

The good old Wilton class butter cream is made with only crisco, a vegatable shortening. That should work.
You can even use Sugar Shack's recipe, it is also non-dairy, all shortening. Yummy too.
Sugar Shack's recipe contains powdered creamer and I am pretty sure it has dairy derivatives in it...

Coffee Mate products are non dairy and lactose free. I am HIGHLY lactose/dairy intolerant, so I do check!
I made the following recipe for a friend of mine whose vegan and he liked it:

You can buy dairy free butter, the best brand is earth balance if you happen to have a recipe that includes butter.
Coffee Mate has sodium casienate, which is a milk derivative but is not a source of lactose. My son has milk allergies.
pm jasonkraft. He specializes in vegan, allergen-free products and will be able to give you some guidelines and opinions.
Thankyou SO much..I was able to find one:
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup nonhydrogenated shortening
1/2 cup nonhydrogenated margarine, we use Earth Balance
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted if clumpy
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup plain soy milk or soy creamer
INSTRUCTIONS
Beat the shortening and margarine together until well combined and fluffy. Add the sugar and beat for about 3 more minutes. Add the vanilla and soy milk, and beat for another 5 to 7 minutes until fluffy.
