hi all,
after reading lots of posts and looking at your fabulous pictures I was thinking of giving Tobas glaze a go. then when I finally found the recipe it says corn syrup and we dont have that here in australia that I have ever seen??? what will work just as well??? glucose syrup???
also, my browser failed when I was at page 200 of the gallery, but I cant work out how to get back there other than going next, next, next etc too slow that way, any tips??? I tried searching for cookie gallery page 200 but that doesnt work either. thanks again
Just did a search on Wikipedia. Do you have Golden Syrup in Australia? That is what they say is similar to corn syrup.
Do not use golden syrup unless you want a colour change.
Use glucose syrup, it is sold in the baking isle in a plastic jar. If to thick you can gently microwave to thin it down.
I have actually found corn syrup at our local IGA. As you can imagine I was really surprised. I found it in the isle with the golden syrup. I'm not sure if other IGA's would stock it, because they are all independently owned.
Thanks very much, IGA hey, will have a look... have checked all the others around here. Nor the health shops I have been do.
I was hoping that the glucose would work.. thanks very much
I have bought it from Coles - in the healthfood section, and from my specialist wholesale food distributor (its called Karo, and you can get it in light and dark). I have heard to use glucose syrup as an alternative, but the viscosity really is not the same.
HTH!
sorry, one more question... are you able to source the americolors? i know I havent typed that correctly, but hopefully you know what I mean.
for a decent price??? i have found them online for d$5.95 each,, plus postage. but as they are less than $2 USD, I was hoping to find them cheaper
Thanks again everyone
Champagne Cakes in Perth have the Americolors for $2.95, try this ebay listing for them.

Also with the corn syrup, not sure if it was you who posted this question on Planet Cake but if you are in Brisbane I have purchased the Karo brand corn syrup from Mrs Flannery's stores .

As evoir tyed - you can use glucose syrup.
if you click on the above lick and scroll down you will see a jar of it (with the red lid)
Glucose syrup is derived from corn.
If i can't find thae Karo brand - i buy this instead.
