I am just fed up, 1/2 the time I can make black MMF and it turns out great- then, when I really need it for like 3 zebra cakes in ONE weekend- Its flakey and nasty and wont work!!

so I am going to break down and buy some. I need black, and I prefer cheap. LOL I am going to tell folks that this is NOT my fondant, which they all love, and to keep that in mind when they eat it. (or just skip black, liek I already tell them because I have to use so much color)

anyway, please share.. icon_smile.gif

and I am sure this is in the wrong place, I dont think I have ever posted in the right place. LOL so I appologize in advance.. icon_smile.gif

I just need a lot of black for a spider-man cake I made, and I totally gave up making it! (it kept turning green, because I was using Wilton to color it) I bought Chef Duff's. it wasn't the cheapest, but I could get it locally, and it works great.

Check fondarific (AKA Chef Duff's) if you have to order, it is my favorite!

Are Fondarific and Duff's fondant the same thing? I thought they were separate. I have bought Duff's fondant (when I have a half-off coupon at Michael's), Fondarific, and Satin Ice. I am hoping to try FondX soon. I can't buy Fondarific and Duff's at the same place. I can only get Duff's at Michael's, which I think is an exclusive arrangment in Canada anyway, and I get Fondarific at my local cake supply store.

Yes, Chef Duff's is fondarific. I have to order everything, but Wilton or Chef Duff's, and I love fondarific so it's and easy choice if I need something in-between orders.

Up until recently I could only get Satin Ice which has good color but the black was a little soft. I can get Duff's at Michael's now and I thought I saw it at WallyWorld but I have not tried it yet.

I've used Satin Ice and Duff's and I preger the flavor of Satin Ice. Duff's is supposed to taste like buttercream but it is such a strong fake butter flavor it just is not appealing. I will only use Duff's if I have to make accents and where I only need smaller amounts. But for covering and for larger amounts I will stick with Satin Ice or make my own MMF.

Total Freak show. I went out late one night I ran out of marangue powder and also picked up some round boards and the woman in line in front of me weighed over 300 pounds, was wearing this sundress that had the little shoulder straps tucked into the dress so it would look strapless (I could clearly see them), no bra so it was pulling down her dress, huge tatoo on her back, hair died 2 colors in long braids, straw cowboy hat, heavy Tammy Fay Baker makup and really high pitched voice (she started a onversation with my roomate and me."

I am not making this up. We could not belive it. It was so hard not to laugh. The best time to see freaks is late at nite.

Thank y'all icon_smile.gif

I will have to order some ASAP.

I THINK there is a micheals about an hour and a half away- but with a funeral and 5 cakes this week I am not sure I can make it icon_sad.gif I might have to though... I doubt shipping would make it here by then.... CRAP!

I was making black PERFECT- MMF black- just jam up- then the last 3 times, its SUCKED- SOOO agervating. I ended up having to do a patch job on my latest zebra- by buying the 12.00 pack of 4 wilton fondant colors and dying blue black, because it was cracking and breaking all the way to town!!

There is no where else to buy anything, I have a walmart, but they have the smallest packages of wilton- not much- and never have black-
Hobby lobby doenst sell anything like that, same wilton as WM- (and its still an hour away) and I fiqure this week will be HOT- and Humid- and with all the cakes I'm baking, and all the food for the funeral, my house is going to be an oven all week! icon_sad.gif

and yes, walmart is a freak show.. I swear they need a dress code.... LOL
