How do you stack the bundt cakes to make a pumpkin?

Some cakes on here say they used two bundt pans for their pumpkin cake, but some look a lot taller. How do I get a tall (not short and squaty) pumpkin cake?

How do you stack the bundt cakes? Do you use cardboard between layers?

I'm interested in responses too, because I want to make one next month. I do know that to get a taller pumpkin, some people bake a 9 inch round and insert it in the middle of the two bundt cakes. They do dowel it to keep it from collapsing.

That or you could just stack regular round cakes and carve them.

Sharon Zambito has a tutorial on her Blog. Go to Sugared Productions and click on her blog and search for older posts. She used two bundt cake pans for hers. Just keep searching under older posts (at the bottom of page) until you get to the pumpkins.

I made one last year (it is in my photos) and I used 2 bundt cakes and a 9" round in between. I didn't use any dowels or cakeboards in between the layers. I just stacked it like I would any other 3 layer cake. HTH.
