I am a hobby baker baking from my home. I bake about 3 cakes per week....
I am wondering what everyone use to cut wooden dowel rods?
I bought a small miter box but it does not work that well...
I have used new garden shears and snippers but each tend to leave the cut edges a little pointed or crimped. Is there anything to give you a clean, smooth, even cut?
thanks in advance....
I use a pair of small branch pruners. I had my husband pick me up some new ones and he got the kind that are sharp on one side and flat on the other. Don't get those. They leave the ends jagged and yucky . I've had better luck with the kind that are sharp on both sides. Would love to hear what everyone else uses, though.
Everything I have used leaves the edges jagged and yucky....I even tried a hemmel...if that is the way to spell and pronounce it...didnt work...all the snippers and pruners crimp and leave the edges jagged...we need some more people to answer this post...it will be interesting to see if anyone has a simple method that workds well!
Dog nail clippers. I got the idea from this site. Works like a charm. They are new dog nail clippers of course!
My Wilton instructor suggested these cutters. They work great! I bought them at orchard supply.

I purchased a very affordable small miter saw from Harbor Freight (they are online) it cuts the dowel clean threw. Well worth it.
I use this saw and sand paper to finish edges. Just be careful with the saw.

I use a heavy duty pipe cutter. It works great! I get a nice clean edge and it's very easy to use. Here's a pic
