Tiny Martini Glass For Cupcakes
Baking By sarascakecreations Updated 16 Sep 2010 , 3:13pm by kileyscakes
Hello,
I have an order for a bunch of cupcakes for a bridal shower and she wants me to copy the martini glass from the invite onto the cupcake. So I want to make a little fondant martini glass but everywhere I look the martini glass cooki cutters are like 3 or 4" tall and that's too big to top a cupcake.
Any ideas? Am I going to have to just cut 40 tiny martini glasses with an exacto knife?
Sara
Hi, what if you cut some fondant discs let them dry then piped a martini glass on that? Or you could put fondant olives?
Jennifer Dontz has a set of party glass cutters that range in size from 2 1/2 to 1 inch tall. jenniferdontz.com
Not sure if you can find something that would be equally proportionate but you could try using a Triangle cookie cutter for the glass and an upside down T for the stem.
Have you thought about making one using the metal cutter that comes on tin foil and saran wrap boxes? Print or draw a template and the using needle nosed pliers, bend the thin metal strip to create the exact shape and size you want
You might be able to mold a little ball of fondant around the tip of your decorating tip and let dry. If you want to stand them up, I am not sure what you would use for a stem (toothpick?) that goes into the circle that goes into the cupcake.
If you want to set the glass lying down, you could mold the glass top around the half of your decorating tip, make a little sausage roll of fondant for the stem and half a circle for the bottom of the glass. All of that put into a circle of fondant. It will be almost 3D. That might be too crazy an idea though depending on how many you have to make, though.
Too bad I don't need any tiny martini glasses, but I just wanted to say that you guys are so creative... I love all of these ideas.
This is what I meant before. A martini glass lying down, but with some 2D characteristics to it (you mold the top part on a decorating tip)

I made little martini glasses out of royal icing, added some fondant to the bottom part of the glass and painted it. Then I put some piping gel around the rim and dipped it into colored sugar. Here's a pic of them: http://twitpic.com/2oqm5o
this is a good reason why I decided to get the cricut cake I get requests all the time for odd toppers one gal called me last minute for anchor toppers and I pulled it off by finding an image online and using make the cut software and cut them out perfectly this would be so easy to do on the cricut!!
