I'm curious to know what is everyones favorite? The one that people can't stop eating and always raving about. What is your top three favorites and best sellers?
hmmm... that's kind of tough.
I really like the NFSC, but with almond extract, and I get lots of good reviews on that - though I only use that when I'm sure that no one who is going to eat them has any nut allergies. I also get great comments about the NF recipe without any almond in it, too.
I use a modified version of Antonia74's RI recipe, and also sometimes GeminiRJ's Glace icing recipe and people really, really love them. I do flavor them - either with vanilla or with other natural flavorings. My favorite flavorings to use are amaretto (again, only if I'm sure there are no nut allergies) or chocolate.
Personally, I don't like icing... too sweet for me... but I do like the cookies plain. As I said, I like the regular NFs, almond NFs, and mocha cookies. The mocha cookies with a chocolate icing (like ganache) are YUMMY!
I really love my classic flavoring : vanilla doug with vanilla-almond (natural) icing
But I really love those creations : Chocolate-banana, chocolate-coconut and coconut-lime .. for those recipe I don't only use extract for the flavors.. but I'll keep my recipes secret , sorry
My kids love NFSC with royal icing flavored with Lorann bubble gum. I prefer butter rum or caramel flavor.
I like dark chocolate cookies with raspberry RI (I use Lorann flavoring). I also like NFSC with RI flavored with cotton candy oil (also Lorann). Soooooo good.
So far I've done mostly NFSC with ordinary RI, but the last time I made cookies I tried a pecan cookie recipe and it is delicious
I hadn't any, but I imagine it would be good with orange flavoured RI.
Other than that chocolate is ALWAYS good with orange, but also with strawberry or raspberry.
I'm going to try making Fuzzy Navel cookies. I plan to use orange extract in the cookies, and peach schnapps in the icing. Has anyone ever tried replacing the liquid (or some of it) with alcohol? I know many extracts are high in alcohol content....even more so than some booze. If the icing doesn't work, I can always use something more traditional, and won't have ruined a whole batch of cookies.
I just perfected a recipe for mojito cake with dark rum and fresh mint in the cake and key lime cream cheese icing. Everyone loves it, so I wonder if it would make a good cookie??!!
You all have inspired me...so many creative combinations. I think my cookie gift trays will be especially yummy this holiday season!!!!!!!!!!!
cakeythings1961, you just reminded me of the margarita cookies I once got from here:

And I love mojito cakes! Funny, 'cause I don't drink. I loved the mojito cake in the Warren Brown's book Cake Love too. Not sure that I tried to cover it with key lime cream cheese icing... I have to try something like that.
Sorry I have to say it, Chocolate chip. I frequently make them large and decorate them. So I love them with a good choc butter cream.
