I tried making a shoe out of gumpaste already, and it turned out horribly. It dried too fast, and it cracked like crazy and it jut looked really bad. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but as of now I need to make some form of a 3D shoe (edible) for a cake. It doesn't even have to be a big thing, but I have to do something. Is MMF okay for small sculptors? I know it's generally best just for covering cakes, but I was curious if anyone had any ideas/input?

I have used MMF for baby shoes with no problem. I just let each section dry overnight before I did the next section. In my photos both sets of baby shoes were made out of MMF. HTH

If you have some gumpaste left, why don't you try mixing equal parts of gumpaste and MMF. That will make it less floppy than MMF and less likely to dry and crack than straight gumpaste.

I think it will work as long as you have at least a week for it to dry. I would use a lollipop stick or dowel or straw in the heel for strength.

You can also add some Tylos Powder to the MMF which will stiffen it just like gumpaste.
